Mission Control: Jenn Dubey on Creativity, Leadership, and Making an Impact
Every career has its twists and turns. Sometimes, the experiences that seem unrelated at first become the foundation for something bigger. For Jenn Dubey, that journey has included entrepreneurship, wellness, creative storytelling, and a growing commitment to advocating for Michigan’s aging population.
Featured on the Mission Control podcast, hosted by Paul Schmidt of UnoDeuce Multimedia, Jenn shares how her experiences shaped her approach to leadership, collaboration, and making a difference in her community.
Finding Creativity in Corporate Wellness
Jenn currently serves as Operations and Project Manager for the Area Agencies on Aging Association of Michigan (4AM), where she manages grants, oversees business operations, and supports the organization’s work on behalf of older adults throughout the state.
But her path to 4AM began somewhere different: personal training.
While working as a trainer, Jenn met Paul when he was invited to film a client preparing for a triathlon. That early connection eventually led to a creative partnership and the launch of Evolve Corporate Wellness, a business Jenn built around her passion for health and education.
Evolve gave Jenn the opportunity to combine entrepreneurship with storytelling. Working with Paul, she helped turn wellness initiatives into digital campaigns that reached employees across Michigan. The experience showed her how creativity and compelling stories could engage audiences and help people make meaningful changes.
During her five years running Evolve, Jenn discovered new strengths and learned valuable lessons about building a business. Entrepreneurship challenged her to think differently, explore new possibilities, and recognize what she could accomplish.
“Starting a business is incredibly difficult, but exciting,” Jenn reflected. “It’s an exploration of your dreams, capabilities, and creativity.”
Turning Experience Into Community Impact
After Evolve and another professional chapter, Jenn transitioned into her role at 4AM. The move reflected both a career shift and a family decision, offering greater stability as her children approached college.
Today, her work supports a mission that will remain important for generations. Michigan’s aging population needs strong services, resources, and advocates, and Jenn sees plenty of opportunities to help move that work forward. She hopes to become an even stronger advocate for senior issues while finding innovative ways to support Michigan’s aging network.
“I have a ton of goals, professionally and personally, and I never limit my potential anymore,” she said. “I’ve done it before, and I can do it again.”
That mindset has carried into her work with Paul, too.
Finding New Ways to Connect
When the COVID-19 pandemic changed how organizations could gather, Jenn and Paul found another opportunity to put creativity to work. Together, they helped bring live streaming to Older Michiganians Day, 4AM’s largest advocacy event.
The shift made participation possible for people who couldn’t attend in person, expanding access and creating new ways for supporters to engage. It was another example of how adapting to change can open doors rather than close them.
Jenn also remembers the value of gathering with others to exchange ideas, offer support, and learn from shared experiences. Those conversations remain an important part of what makes collaboration meaningful. Her story is a reminder that leadership doesn’t follow a straight line. Skills developed in one industry can create new possibilities in another, and the right partnerships can help turn creative ideas into community impact.
Through Mission Control, UnoDeuce celebrates leaders like Jenn who continue to grow, adapt, and find new ways to serve others.
